Pontoon Bridge

Without publicity, without ribbons, a pontoon bridge was open, which takes you over the river to Lasztownia. The bridge was built by soldiers of the 5th Engineering Regiment, with their headquarters in Podjuchy, Szczecin. The regiment has been co-operating with the city council for a long time. The bridge consists of 50 pontoon blocks, which were brought to its destination by waterway, hauled by army ships. It took the soldiers over an hour to put the elements together.
The two-way bridge is almost 100 meters long, with capacity of 80 tons. The city citizens and the tourists of the Tall Ships’ Races will be able to walk or even run over the bridge without worry.
For civilians’ safety the soldiers have hung steel ropes along the bridge and put up life buoys. The bridge will be there until the rally events end.
