Sunday forecast

All the racing ships have been lying in the port of Szczecin since Saturday. The greatest attraction of this sailing Sunday seems to be a colourful parade of the crews along the city streets, setting off from Waly Chrobrego, crossing Trasa Zamkowa, then to Zolnierza Square, Grunwaldzki Square, and finally finishing at the Letni Theatre. The day packed with events starts in the morning with ‘Blessing for the sails’ ecumenical service (in honour of sailors), and finishes with a laser show and fireworks display. We expect to enjoy official prizes giving to The Tall Ships’ Races competitors, which should take place at 17.00. No doubt Dar Szczecina of Poland will be the great winner.

In the meantime everyone can take advantage of all the events being organised, which has already attracted over 500 000 spectators. Visiting of the vessels is going on, accompanied by kilometres long queues of people eager to get on board. Just like yesterday, crowds are expected to show up at theatre plays, concerts and ‘Blue Pearl’ movies review (today you’ll see ‘Yellow Submarine’ and ‘Finding Nemo?’)

Tonight, another grand concert on the main stage in Waly Chrobrego…Great Polish and foreign stars will be there for you: Szymon Wydra & Carpe Diem, Stachursky, Doda, Melanie C and Kate Ryan. There surely won’t be enough space for everyone, but huge screens should make up for it. Monday is coming up, though Szczecin is definitely facing a sleepless night.
